The number of ev chargers has exceeded 10 million, replenishing the energy network

As of April 2025, the number of new energy vehicle charging piles in China has exceeded 10 million, marking a new stage of large-scale development of the energy replenishment network. This milestone not only achieved full coverage of all scenarios including cities, rural areas and expressways, but also significantly reduced the charging waiting time through the upgrade of fast charging technology and the optimization of the intelligent dispatching system, effectively alleviating "range anxiety". The improvement of charging infrastructure has injected strong impetus into the new energy vehicle industry, continuously increasing the electrification rate of private cars and accelerating the realization of carbon reduction targets in the transportation sector. This marks a crucial step for China towards a green travel ecosystem.

By April 2025, the number of new energy vehicle charging piles in China has officially exceeded 10 million, marking the basic formation of the world's largest new energy vehicle charging network. This milestone not only reflects China's leading position in the construction of new energy infrastructure, but also lays a solid foundation for the high-quality development of the new energy vehicle industry.

With the increase in coverage density, charging anxiety has become history

At present, the layout of charging piles across the country has achieved a three-dimensional coverage of "five minutes in cities, half an hour in rural areas, and full connection on expressways". On average, there is a fast charging station every 3 kilometers in urban public areas. The proportion of charging piles in highway service areas exceeds 95%, and the coverage rate of charging networks in remote towns and villages reaches 82%. With the popularization of private charging stations for families, users' vision of "charging as soon as they arrive" has become a reality, completely breaking the shackles of early "range anxiety" on market expansion.

The acceleration of technological iteration leads to a significant increase in energy replenishment efficiency

Behind the network of tens of millions of charging piles lies the strong support of technological innovation. The single gun power of the ultra-fast charging pile has exceeded 480kW, enabling "a 5-minute charge and a 200-kilometer range". The intelligent dispatching system, through vehicle-to-grid coordination (V2G) technology, dynamically matches the charging demand with the grid load, increasing the utilization rate of a single charging pile to over 35%. In addition, multiple energy replenishment solutions such as wireless charging and battery swapping are being advanced simultaneously to meet the needs of different scenarios.

Driven by both policy and market

This achievement is attributed to the deep integration of the "new infrastructure" policy and market mechanisms. The central and local governments have cumulatively invested over 100 billion yuan to subsidize the construction of charging facilities, and at the same time, they have activated the participation of social capital through policies such as land preferences and peak-valley electricity prices. Private enterprises and power grid companies have made collaborative plans, forming a virtuous ecosystem where "state-owned enterprises build the main trunk and private enterprises supplement the terminal", which has led to a 40% reduction in the construction cost of charging piles and a 60% increase in operational efficiency.

The industrial synergy effect has emerged

The well-developed energy replenishment network is exerting a multiplier effect: the penetration rate of new energy vehicles has exceeded 45%, driving technological breakthroughs in the battery, power electronics and other industrial chains. The combination of charging piles with photovoltaic and energy storage systems has given rise to a new type of integrated infrastructure featuring "photovoltaic storage charging and discharging", accelerating the transformation of transportation energy. It is estimated that the 10 million charging piles can replace over 20 million tons of fuel annually, contributing to the early realization of the carbon neutrality goal.

Looking ahead, with the unification of ultra-fast charging standards and the intelligent upgrade of charging piles, China's new energy vehicle industry will enter a virtuous cycle of "promoting usage through charging and driving production through usage", providing a Chinese solution for the global electrification of transportation.
